Khachapuri is a famous food from Georgia, a country between
Europe and Asia. It is a soft bread filled with cheese, and sometimes also with egg and butter. It is warm, rich, and very delicious — a true comfort food.
People in Georgia love Khachapuri. It is more than food; it is part of family, tradition, and national pride.
A Dish With History
The word “Khachapuri” comes from two Georgian words:
-
“Khacho” = curd cheese
-
“Puri” = bread
Khachapuri has been eaten in Georgia for hundreds of years. Every region in Georgia has its own style of Khachapuri. One of the most famous is the Adjarian Khachapuri, shaped like a boat, filled with cheese, and topped with a raw egg and a piece of butter.
People break the crust, mix the egg and cheese, and enjoy it hot and fresh!
